The wifi problems are really frustrating! even I have faced a lot of issues back those days. After analyzing the issues one after each, I am able to solve the network problems. Once I have faced a network problem like “Wifi not working but ethernet is”. I tried various ways and some of them are actually fixed the issue. In this guide, I will show you how to fix wifi not working but ethernet is.
Restart the Wifi Router
The router is one of the causing issues. The obvious way to fix is to restart the router. If you don’t know how to do it then just follow the simple steps.
- Grab your Wifi router.
- Make sure it is turned ON.
- Now, find the Restart button.
- Or manually switch OFF the router and turn On.
- Now, reconnect to wifi in your PC.
Reset Wifi Router
- Take your Wifi router while power is ON.
- Check for the small hole named RESET.
- Take a needle and hold the button for 30 seconds.
- The LEDs will blink indicates the router is reset.
- After that, connect WIFI to your PC.
Update Router Firmware
- You can try resetting your router.
- Moreover, you can update the router frimware by visiting the official IP.
- Find your router ID and connect to it on your browser.
- Enter the login credentials i.e., admin
- Click on Login button.
- Then, you can see the Update option.
- Click on continue to update firmware.
- Check the latest firmaware and download it.
- It will automatically download and install it to your router.
- The router starts blinking and after that you can connect to the Wifi network.
Windows Troublesoot
- Go to settings app on your windows using windows key + I.
- Now, open Update & Security option.
- Choose the Troubleshoot option.
- After that, click on Run the troubleshooter button.
- If any Wifi issues found it will automatically fix the issues.
- You can likewise run the troubleshooter for any other issues.
Flush DNS
- Run the command prompt on your windows.
- Run the cmd prompt as an administrator.
- Now, type the following command one after each and press ENTER option.
ipconfig / release
ipconfig / renew
- After the process has been done you can type the following command to flush.
ipconfig / flushdns
- After that, you can close the command prompt and reconnect to the Wifi network.
Update Network Adapter Drivers
- Right-click on the start and select Device Manager.
- Now find the Network adapters and click on it to expand.
- Select the wifi adapter and right click on it.
- Then, choose Update driver option.
- After that, select ‘Search automatically for drivers’ option.
- It will automatically install the latest driver.
Reinstall Network Drivers
- Right-click on Start menu and choose the Device Manager option.
- Click on the Network Adapters to expand.
- Now, right-click on wifi adapter.
- Choose the Uninstall option.
- Then, again open the Device Manager and click on Unknown devices.
- Click on Install option.
- The network adapter will install.
